Does AccuRev encrypt network communication traffic between client and server

QUESTION:
Does AccuRev encrypt network communication traffic between client and server?

ANSWER:
No. At this point AccuRev does not encrypt the TCP/IP network communication between the client and the server. The traffic in a centralized environment is typically traveling over a secure LAN and encryption is typically not required or requested. In a distributed model it is not common for customers to poke a hole in the firewall to allow remote users to access the AccuRev server over the internet so encryption would go largely unused. The typical implementation has the AccuRev server placed inside the firewall and communication to the server from the client is usually over a VPN connection, or SSH with port forwarding, both of these environmental network security implementations providing the secure communication. AccuRev would only be duplicating the encryption and therefore decrease performance since AccuRev would have to encrypt and decrypt the data even though it is already secured by the VPN.
