How does AccuRev handle binary files?


SOLUTION:
DATABASE GROWTH: Each keep operation will create a new data container in the depot's data sub-directory. However, the promote operation does not need to create a new container. It merely updates a database alias. This is also true when promoting from stream to stream. For example, if you keep a change to a file, then promote it up three levels of stream hierarchy; only one new container is created in the repository. The net result is a depot storage area that grows in a very controlled fashion.

DIFFING/MERGING: Our diff tool does not support binary files. We can however integrate with any diff tool, so if you have a diff tool that can handle your binary files, you can integrate it with AccuRev.
