What does the error "cannot perform operation in reference tree" mean?
QUESTION:
What does the error "cannot perform operation in reference tree" mean when promoting from stream to stream?

ANSWER:
There was a client-side defect in 3.5.5 in which users encountered the error "cannot perform operation in reference tree" when trying to promote from one stream to another. The error usually only occurs from the gui. The current installation packages contain the fixed client. Users who downloaded the 3.5.5 installation package between January 5, 2005 and January 20, 2005 will need to upgrade their clients to avoid this defect. Please download an installer at http://www.accurev.com/download/download.htm to install the new client.

Note that, although the installation packages are still labelled 3.5.5, once installed, the client will show AccuRev version 3.5.5a. Since this version of the client is compatible with the 3.5.5 server, no server upgrade is needed.
