Data access functionality

When using data access functionality to control access to defects users from other data access groups are still available in field Owner and in Comments when using @

Eg. you have a project for 10 different customers some competitors....and using data access to differentiate access and not share of defects. So they should not know of each other.....but since the complete users list is available in owner this is not possible. Owner list should only consist of users from same data access group and groups without any specified data access - same goes for @ in comments as well as any other fields if more than these two...

  • Any updates on this?

We would like to be able to hide users completely both in Owners and when tagging

So this is what should be expected when configuring data access

No access to the defects as well as the users from the different data access groups.

Should I create a Support case or new Idea or??

  • Hi Jesper,

thanks for clarifying. indeed all users appear in the users list (though you cannot assign/mention them if they don't have visibility for the entity).

This is an enhecement to the data access model that we should consider.

  • The whole idea with data access is to hide knowledge of entities as well as users for the different data access groups - remember this might be competitors working in same workspace. Thus we cannot have other users being viewable on user lists once the data access is enabled.....or being able to tag competitors in Comments.

So I don't think this is already offered - my idea is to add additional functionality to the exisitng Data access.

  • Hi Jesper,

users with no access level to entity do appear in the users list but cannot be assigned as owners to this entity or recieve any notification (either by email or by the mentionning feature). If a user will try to assign an entity to a user which should not see it, an error message is displayed. the user which has no access level to the entity will not get any email/notification and cannot be assigned as owner for this feature.
