New add-ins and features in UFT 14.52

by in Application Delivery Management

Micro Focus Unified Functional Testing (UFT) 14.52 introduces a number of new add-ins and features, all designed to increase your test coverage. Keep reading to learn more about these newest capabilities.

For a complete rundown of all new features, check out “What’s New” in UFT 14.52.

Mobile testing on local devices

In our previous blog, we introduced UFT’s new Mobile Add-in for Local Devices. In just a few steps, any UFT user can start designing and running app and web tests on one local mobile device at a time. Download the UFT Mobile Add-in for Local Devices and try it today!

PDF Add-in

Our new PDF Add-in lets you test interactive PDF documents opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro. You can record and run tests, as well as spy on objects, without complex scripting or having to use UI Automation. For example, you can test PDF forms that need to be filled out.

Note: The PDF Add-in is offered as a “tech preview” for UFT 14.52.

Salesforce Lightning

UFT's Web 2.0 Add-in now supports Salesforce Lightning. This gives you the ability to incorporate Salesforce's new UI experience into your test suite. You can record and run tests, as well as spy on objects and learn them. This also includes support for dynamic iframe objects.

Run UFT remotely without manual intervention

You can now run tests using UFT installed on a remote Windows machine without manually logging into that machine and starting UFT. This feature enables you to schedule automatic UFT test runs from external tools (e.g. Jenkins) without requiring any manual intervention. On the remote computer, you simply need to configure the remote access credentials. Other computers can then connect remotely, start UFT, and run tests.

CoAP support for API testing

In UFT 14.52, you can test applications that communicate using the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP). This protocol is a specialized web transfer protocol often used for designing and interacting with applications and objects on the Internet of Things (IoT).
