Micro Focus is proud to announce the release of Micro Focus UFT One 2021, designed to help test automation engineers gain broader insight into quality faster than ever before. Here are the top ten new features and enhancements that you’ll see in the product.

1. Artificial Intelligence-Based Testing Enhancements

UFT One’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) now recognizes even more objects, including complex objects such as calendars and tables, significantly increasing the scope of the type of objects that you can automate with AI.

There’s a new AI Inspection window that makes it even easier to identify the objects in your application and add them to your test script.

To increase test resilience, you can run the test with the new ‘Object Identification Verification’ mode that checks that objects in the test are recognized accurately.

A number of performance improvements were introduced as well. For example, previously identified objects are cached so that no longer need to be identified from scratch the next time they are encountered. And you can connect multiple UFT One computers to a single powerful computer that performs intensive number-crunching processes to speed up AI performance.

Other AI-based enhancements include:

• New AI-based automation methods, such as Scroll, ScrollOnObject, and GetValue;
• Optical character recognition (OCR) enhancements;
• Support for additional languages;
• No longer need to wait for a new release of UFT One to get updates to new AI models

2. New Add-ins: UIA Pro and PDF

We added two new add-ins to this version of UFT One:

• UIA Pro: The new UIA Pro add-in lets you test more UI Automation objects, and improves test execution performance

• PDF: The updated PDF add-in removes the dependency on Adobe Acrobat in previous versions of UFT One.

3. Web Testing Enhancements

Web testing is now even better:

• You can replay tests using IE mode in Chromium Edge
• WebView2 controls are supported in Edge
• Web testing acceleration is now enabled by default
• And you can test web applications on multiple Safari tabs

4. API Testing Enhancements

We’ve expanded UFT One’s API testing capabilities in a number of areas:

• New Kafka activities are available to publish messages to topics and to subscribe to topics
• API tests now use the same data table control as GUI tests
• You can edit an existing local table data source in an API test

5. SAP Enhancements

We expanded our capabilities and support for SAP technologies:

• SAP SuccessFactors is now certified
• You can connect to SAP Solution Manager servers via Secure Network Communication (SNC)
• You can test web-based SAP applications on Chromium Edge

6. Parallel Execution Enhancements

Get results faster with improvements in parallel testing:

• There’s a new user interface to the Parallel Runner, making it simpler and more intuitive to configure how tests should execute in parallel
• You can run Java tests in parallel as well

7. CI/CD Enhancements

Integration with the DevOps ecosystem is a critical capability for any functional testing tool. While UFT One already has many integration points, we’ve added even more in this version:

• There’s a new generic UFT Launcher for GUI, API, BPT and LoadRunner tests
• We expanded our Azure DevOps (ADO) support
• We’ve added a new detailed test run report in the ADO pipeline run
• The UFT One report is now uploaded to ADO storage
• You can now connect to an ALM server using SSO authentication from the Bamboo plugin

8. Text Recognition Enhancements

The ability to accurately and reliably identify text in applications under test can be critical for functional test automation. To that end, we made a number of enhancements to UFT One 2021’s optical character recognition (OCR) capabilities:

• UFT One 2021 includes a new Tesseract version with increased OCR accuracy
• You can optimize ABBYY OCR performance and accuracy by specifying a range of parameters
• As you configure your text recognition settings, you can validate that the settings are correct with the new text recognition preview capability

9. Usability Enhancements

UFT One 2021 is now even easier to use than before, with a range of usability enhancements across the board. Here are just some of the improvements:

• Parse JSON files and use the data within GUI tests
• The new Object Identification Center now supports native properties and methods
• The Validate functionality now works on all technologies
• UFT One’s launch time is faster
• And at last, you can open tests with drag and drop, or double-click
