Problem:

With DevPartner 10.5 and prior versions used the DLM licensing system in which a named license was bound to a host. In that use case any VM guests on that same host machine could not use the license assigned to the host.

Resolution:

With DevPartner version 10.6 the license will still be installed on the host or physical machine. The VM guest should be pointed to the IP address of the host machine using the steps below:

1. Open up the Micro Focus Licensing System Administration Tool "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel RMS License Manager\WINNT\CesAdminTool.exe" or use the GUI.

2. Open Options/ Advanced Configuration to display the dialog box below.

3. Change the value of "License Server" from 127.0.0.1 to the address of the host machine. You may try the short name, but if that does not work, try the v4 IP address of that server.

The user will be able to use Devpartner on the host machine or on the guest VM but not be able to use DevPartner on both the host machine and the guest vm at the same time.
