DevPartner Java Integration with Visual Cafe 4.1

Problem:

Why isn't DevPartner integrated with my Visual Cafe IDE since I upgraded from Visual Cafe 4.0 to 4.1?

Resolution:

You upgraded from Symantec Cafe 4.0 to WebGain Cafe 4.1. Our install relies on registry entries to detect whether Cafe is installed (and where), and WebGain changed these registry entries when it bought the code. Result: we have no clue that it even exists on your machine.

It is possible to manually put us into Visual Cafe 4.1 with the following steps.

1. First, email technical support at Nashua.Support@Compuware.com to request the appropriate missing files. Then drop these jar files into the appropriate directories.

NuMegaPlugins.jar goes into Compuware install directory\PCShared

NuMegaJCPlugin.jar

NuMegaTTPlugin.jar

NuMegaTCPlugin.jar

NuMegaMPPlugin.jar - all 4 go into Visual Cafe install directory\bin\components

2. Next open Visual Cafe install directory\bin\sc.ini. In the section of this file with the heading [Environment], add the following to the beginning of the CLASSPATH variable:

%@P%\Components

uMegaMPPlugin.jar;%@P%\Components

uMegaTCPlugin.jar;%@P%\Components

uMegaTTPlugin.jar;C:\Program Files\Compuware\PCShared

uMegaPlugins.jar;%@P%\Components

uMegaJCPlugin.jar;

3. Delete Visual Cafe install directory\bin\local.rps. This is the local repository of environment information.

4. Start Visual Cafe. You'll get a screen saying that it is unable to find the local repository and asks if you want it regenerated. Answer yes. Now all the newly added DevPartner information will be included in the local repository.
