Problem:

What ports does DevPartner Java v3.0 use?

Resolution:

The DevPartner Java Edition control service (NCSP), which controls communications between the Web server, the application under test, and your browser, takes requests on port 21578 and passes them to the Web server on port 21580. If you need to use a different port because another application is using port 21578, you must make changes to certain files that reside in the DevPartner installation directory.

1. In $NM_INSTALL_DIR/var/conf/userPrefs.conf, edit the field NCSP_PORT. For example:

#base port number for NCS communication

NCSP_PORT=41000

2. In $NM_INSTALL_DIR/var/conf/uiCmdLineParams.conf, edit the field NCSP_PORT. For example:

-Dcom.compuware.dpj.ncsPort=41000

3. In $NM_INSTALL_DIR/tomcat/conf/server.xml:

a. The port designation is located at the <HTTP10INTERCEPTOR>tag. Replace with the new NCSP_PORT and add 2. For example:

<HTTP10INTERCEPTOR <BR port="41002">

b. The port designation is located at the <REQUESTINTERCEPTOR>tag. Replace with the new NCSP_PORT and add 1. For example:

port=41001

When you have completed these steps, restart the machine for the changes to take effect.
