VB6 Tools not available after installation of DPS

Problem:

After installation of the DevPartner product I am not able to see the "DevPartner" on the menu options on opening up a Visual Basic 6.0 project.

Resolution:

This could be caused by a several things:

1. The installer didn't find VB5 or VB6 with VB SP3 or greater

- It looks here for that info:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\6.0\ServicePacks

Resolution: From the Add/Remove Programs menu, Select Remove for the Compuware DPS item.

Install SP3

Reinstall DPS

- OR -

2. The installer didn't find VB5.EXE or VB6.EXE in the directory specified here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\6.0\Setup\Microsoft Visual Basic\ProductDir

Resolution: Correct the path in the registry to point to VB5 or 6

From the Add/Remove Programs menu, Select Change for the Compuware DPS item.

Then select VB tools to be installed

- OR -

3. The VB Tools might not have been selected to be installed during the initial install

Resolution: From the Add/Remove Programs menu, Select Change for the Compuware DPS item.

Then select VB tools to be installed
