Using SmartCheck to debug an ActiveX OCX or DLL

Problem:

How do I use SmartCheck to debug and ActiveX control used on an ASP page?

Resolution:

  1. Make sure your DLL has been compiled with No Optimization and Create Symbolic Debug info.
  2. Start the stand alone version of SmartCheck
  3. Do a file open
  4. Browse to find IExplore.exe
  5. Go to Program > Settings and click on the "Files To Check" Tab and add your ActiveX DLL to the list.
  6. Start SmartCheck with an F5

You should now be able to view session info on your DLL.
