What is the UVD and how is it used in SoftICE?
When using the universal video driver, SoftICE must save the existing contents of the frame buffer so it can be restored later. The amount of memory required depends on the video mode, the number of lines used by SoftICE, and (for DirectDraw applications) how many flipping surfaces are in use. In any case, the amount of memory required can't exceed the amount of memory on your video card. By default, SoftICE reserves 2MB, but you can modify this using the Symbol Loader (go to Edit -> SoftICE Initialization Settings and change the "Video memory size" setting).
