User created timings do not match the DPJ numbers

Problem:

User timing values different from the those reported by DevPartner Java

Resolution:

There are two possible reasons why your timing measurements might be different from the timing measurements reported by DevPartner Java:

  • The line-level instrumentation added by DevPartner Java Edition can affect the JVM run-time optimizer, so instrumented code will execute more slowly than non-instrumented code.
  • You are comparing the timing values provided by DevPartner Java Edition with timing values acquired in a different environment. For example, the following are not valid comparisons:

Comparing timing values for a method with line-level instrumentation with timing values for a method without line-level instrumentation.

Comparing timing values for two methods that have different exclusion settings.
