Excluding classes in TrueTime for Java

0 Likes

Problem:

I can't seem to get the "Exclude classes" functionality to work. For example, I am trying to

eliminate the XML parser we are using. I have tried:

com.ibm.*,

com.ibm.xml.parser.*, and

com.ibm.xml.parser.XMLReader

in the exclude classes dialog, all to no avail.How do I get this feature up and running?

Resolution:

You can do this in several different ways:

  1. In a text editor, open nmexclud.txt. and locate the exclusions section:
    #
    # TrueTime Java Edition default exclusion file.
    #
    # Any package/class appearing here will not be
    # instrumented by TrueTime.
    #
    [TT Exclude Java Classes From Instrumentation]
    File1=java/*
    File2=sun/*
    File3=sunw/*
    File4=SymantecJITCompilationThread
    File5=netscape/*
    File6=symantec/*
    File7=weblogic/*
    File8=borland/*
    File9=oracle/*
    File10=com/livesoftware/*
    File11=com/allaire/*
    File12=allaire/*
    File13=com/borland/*
    File14=com/oracle/*
    File15=com/ibm/*
    File16=com/sun/*
    File17=com/symantec/*
    File18=com/ms/*
    File19=com/sssw/*
    File20=com/kivasoft/*
    File21=com/netscape/*
    File22=org/apache/*
    File23=org/xml/*
    File24=org/omg/*
    File25=javax/swing/*
    File26=atg/*

    Add the following in the following format:

    com/ibm/* <---this will exclude any and all classed located in the com.ibm.* directory.

  1. From the TrueTime user interface, go to TrueTime menu > TrueCoverage or Memory Profiler > select Program > Exclusions and Inclusions Settings...

    This will bring up an interface where you can browse to the classes that you wish to exclude.
