SQL Server for Analysis

I am interested to setup SQL server for LR analysis. In fact this is helpful if the results file is huge and cannot be analyzed by LR analysis tool. Can we get any guide for using SQL server for Analysis ? IF any one knows please let me know. If you have any more details about this, Can you please share.

  • Installing and configuring MSDE

To install MSDE:The MSDE install component is in the Additional Components folder of the Installation DVD

    Setting up MSDE database:
    1. Reboot the machine after the install.
    2. Share the data folder that is  located in the MSDE installation folder (the default installation directory for MSDE is C:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL)

    3. Launch the Analysis.
    4. Go to Tool -> Options -> Database.
    5. Select the "SQL server/MSDE" radio button and fill in the following information:

Server Name: Enter the machine name for the Server.
User Name: The default is sa. You can change this to a username/password that has Administrator privileges.
Password: There is no password by default. You can change this to a username/password that has Administrator privileges.
Logical Storage location: Enter the path to the "MSSQL7\data" folder.
Physical Storage location: Enter the actual location of the "MSSQL7\data" folder.

Note:Make sure that both the "Physical Storage" and the "Logical storage" locations do not have any blank spaces in them. If needed, use the DOS 8.3 format.

    Example:Change C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL7\Data to C:\Progra~1\Micros~1\MSSQL7\Data
    6. Click on "Test Parameters" and make sure that all the options have been selected.
    7. If you have problems connecting, select the "Use Windows Integrated Security" option and try again.

  • Hi,

The steps for using SQL server are well documented in Analysis documentation files.

Can you please be more specific as to what you are missing there?
