Linux LG Query

Apologies if this is a very simple and basic question. We recently built a Linux LG server and set the environment variables as recommended in the 12.55 guide. When we run verify_generator however we get these results:

Can someone please advise what we need to do to resolve the above? Thanks.

  • OK so we managed to figure it out, just needed to set an environment setting:

    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/HP/HP_LoadGenerator/bin

    So now we see:

    In Lab Manager I can see the host as operational but when I perform a 'Check Host' it fails and in the evnt log it says "Failed to 'Check Host LGServer'. For more information, see the HP ALM Lab Management Troubleshooting Guide."
    I'm just about to start referring to the guide but are there any quick steps I could take to reolve this issue?

  • Ok so we have verified the environment variables are set and we are trying to connect to the Load Generator without using rsh.

    1.  Ran this command from the bin folder - ./m_daemon_setup -install

    2. In the Controller machines, selected Scenario > Load Generators. 
    3. Clicked Add. 
    4. In the Name box, enter the name of the computer on which the load generator is running. (our Linux LG server)
    5. From the Platform list, selected Linux.
    6. Click More.
    7. Clicked on the Linux Environment tab, and made sure that the 'Don’t use RSH check box is selected'

    But when we try to connect we get an error - 

     

    Failed to connect to the agent.

     

    Load Generator not responding after timeout

    Command line that was executed:

    Which Linux flavor are you using? Did you check it is supported in the system requirements?

    Hi Shlomi,

     

    we managed to get it working in the end. What happened was our Redhat O/S version was 7.5 and the version Microfocus recommends in 7.3. So we configured our Linux server with correct Redhat version and reinstalled the LG software. After this we set the environment variables and started the daemon service and the Load Generator worked fine.

    The only issue we've seen since (and I have spoken to this on another thread here) is that we do not see any of the Linux server's resource utilization stats when we run a test. The Windows servers do show this detail. We had a case open about this but the engineer reported that this is a known issue.

    Thanks for sharing this update. I am glad it works now.

    Regarding the system resources for Linux Load Generator - you are right. It was never implemented due to very low usage by our customers. Now we see customers adopt Linux LGs more often we will reconsider the priority. 

    Note that for dynamically allocated Linux Docker containers (via PC integration with Kubernetes) we do configure Heapster monitor on the container.
