Getting Started with Silk Central

Thank you for trying out Silk Central! Installing Silk Central is quick and easy, and you’ll soon discover that controlling your testing is just as simple.

To install Silk Central:

Select Licensing Mode dialog






 







 

  1. After you have downloaded Silk Central, open the installation program silkcentral-<version>.exe.
  2. Follow the setup wizard and confirm all default settings by clicking either Next or OK on each dialog.
  3. On the Select Licensing Mode dialog, keep the default setting (Evaluation).
  4. Silk Central requires a database repository. For the purpose of evaluation we recommend you use SQL Server Express, which is installed as part of Silk Central. Make sure the Install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express SP1 checkbox is checked.
  5. Complete the installation by clicking Next.

The Evaluation version grants you full product functionality for 45 days. All functionality is available for up to 10 concurrent users.

After installing Silk Central, the Instance Administration page opens in your default browser. The default instance silk is ready to use. Simply click the Login URL link to access this instance. The URL to access Silk Central from other computers is:

http://{computer name}:19120/silk

 

Login to Silk Central with the following credentials:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: admin

After you log in, you are directed to the Dashboard. Silk Central has a demo project with sample data configured to enable you to be up and running quickly.

You can easily navigate through Silk Central by clicking the links in the menu on the top.

 

Once logged into Silk Central you will see the following dashboard.

If a new hot fix is available  you will be prompted to install the latest version as seen below. Clicking the hyperlink will take you to the SupportLine website where you can download and apply the latest hot fix.
