QUESTION

Why might I get the exception "Can"t get object clsid from progid" when trying to integrate with third-party requirements/management tools in SilkCentral Test Manager?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

Before you can enable requirements/management integration with SilkCentral Test Manager, you must first install the respective client software on the computer where the SilkCentral front-end server is running.

Therefore, before you can configure the CaliberRM integration, you must install "Borland CaliberRM" on the SilkCentral front-end server. Before you can configure RequisitePro integration, you must install "IBM Rational RequisitePro" on the SilkCentral front-end server.

Failure to install the third party software on the SilkCentral front-end server could result in the exception "Can"t get object clsid from progid" appearing in the frontend server log file. This log file can be accessed from within SilkCentral Test Manager at;

  • Administration/Reports/Front-end Server log

or by navigating to

  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Segue\SCC31\log
