Problem:

How are SilkCentral Test Manager"s database time-stamps generated?

Resolution:

The SilkCentral Test Manager Database timestamp is configured to UTC/GMT timezone.

This is different to the SCTM GUI or Manual Testing Client. SCTM GUI and MTC format the timestamp to the timezone of the SCTM user (created in Admin | User section). With exception to the "data" tab of the reporting unit

The "data" tab of the reporting unit in SCTM shows the date/time that is returned from the database - which is GMT.

The standard Birt reports that are run from the "reports" tab of the Reporting unit format dates depending on the timezone of the user.

Please see example from a machine setup with Eastern Standard Time timezone:-

- Created a SCTM user and configured to EST timezone (Admin | Users)

- Setup and run an Execution Definition.

Note:- from screenshot above, the Test Definition was last run at "10:55 AM" - This is EST (as user is EST timezone)

- Go to reports section and run a report that has "Last execution" field entered

- Click on "data" tab

Note:- from screen shot above, the same Test Definition was last run at "2:55 PM" - As data tab comes from database, this is configured to GMT.
