Error “Cannot add issue” while adding new issues in SCTM 2008 from Test Plan node.


One of the possible reasons for the above error to occur in SCTM 2008 is that when the user used to connect to the Issue Manager profile is locked.

For example, in the below scenario, we have already created an “Issue Tracking profile” with the user “borland”.

Now, if the user which is used in this profile is locked (which can be found from Administration > Users) then, we will get the “Cannot add issue” error when creating New Issue from Test Plan module.

In this case, we will have to use a different user in the “Issue Tracking Profile” to connect to the Issue Manager or the user has to be unlocked.
