Problem:

How can I prevent users from performing DBA activities such as INSERT, DELETE and UPDATE from the Advanced Query menu?

This functionality was made available in SilkCentral Issue Manager 3.2 via a patch that can be obtained from Support. The patch is included in version 3.3 that ships with SilkCentral Test Manager. If you are unsure as to whether or not your version contains this functionality try the following:

• Open SCIM and go to TRACKING | QUERY | ADVANCED
• Type UPDATE
• Click Submit Query

If you get an error stating:

"The given query ("update") is not read-only (it"s not valid)"

then you have the functionality already, however if you get an error similar to:

"Not a valid query: []Line 1: Incorrect syntax near "update""

then you do not have the functionality and should upgrade to at least version 3.2 and obtain the patch from Technical Support.
