QUESTION
----------------------------------

Why do I get "Error: Requirement "requirement-name" already exists as an Obsolete Requirement" when creating a requirement with the same name
as a deleted requirement?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

Instead of deleting requirements permanently, SilkCentral Test Manager will initially mark these as Obsolete Requirements. This allows you to go back
to the requirement that you have marked as Obsolete and recover it. This means that if you try to create a new requirement with the same name you
will receive an error.

Obsolete Requirements can be optionally enabled for viewing by right-clicking within the requirement tree and selecting "Show/Hide Obsolete requirements".
Obsolete requirements will be displayed in the tree in italics.

To permanently delete Obsolete Requirements.

  1. Select the obsolete requirement.
  2. Right-click on it.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. On the Delete Requirement dialog, select Yes.

SilkCentral Test Manager will also allow you to permanently delete a requirement directly from the tree view without creating an obsolete requirement.
To do this, select the "Destroy Permanently" check box in the Delete Requirement dialog box shown below.
