QUESTION

How does SilkCentral Test Manager run SilkTest Testcases?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

First of all, the Testcases are linked to SilkCentral Test Manager via a Test Definition, the test definition is linked to a Testcase within a Script file in the source control. One or more Test Definitions are then linked to an Execution Definition.

When an Execution Definition is run from SilkCentral Test Manager, it creates an XML file, which will look something like a plan. This will include all the Test Definitions from the Execution Definition. This is run like a plan in SilkTest, from here the .rex file is created and this is what SilkCentral Test Manager uses for the statistics for the Execution Definitions.
