When using SilkCentral Test Manager Office Import Tool to import requirements, A Null reference exception error is produced, why?
The Null Reference Exception error can occur when the document being imported contains unsupported formatting.
In the Office application, open and go through the document. Going into the "Customise quick access toolbar" settings in Word 2007 will allow you to change the "Display options" and check the "Hidden text" checkbox within the formatting marks options. Or by clicking ¶ (show/hide) paragraph icon in Word 2003 which displays the formatting on the document.
Remove any unnecessary formating in the document.
SilkCentral Test Manager is currently not able to deal with such special formatting, therefore they will need to be removed.
Download the attached document and try to import into SilkCentral Test Manager. This document will produce the error.
If you follow the steps to display formatting, and notice the formating below. Removing such unnecessary formatting will allow the contents of the document to be imported.
Remore the formatting
"top of form" to "bottom of form" and this
should allow for the requirements to be imported.
