Why do I encounter problems when using a shared drive to store the working folder in SilkCentral TestManager?

ANSWER

When setting your source control profile, you must set your working folder to a location that is on the local drive, it is not recommended that you use a shared drive. Sources are first copied from the Source Control System to (usually) "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Segue\SCC31\SrcCtrlMirrors" and from there to the working folder. If your working folder is on a Shared Drive you may encounter the error:

Error: Target Directory can not be found

Using a shared drive is also not recommended, as if multiple execution servers work and access the same sources this could cause more unexpected issues.

Another issue with using a shared drive for your working folder; is that you may see that the working folder is being recursively copied as a sub-folder of itself until the drive is full. In this case you must reset the working folder to be created on the local drive and delete the contents of the "SrcCtrlMirrors" folder usually located at "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Segue\SCC31\SrcCtrlMirrors".
