How do I stop the header information for a Manual Test Definition being displayed on every page of my PDF report?
If you have a Manual Test Definition that has numerous Test
Steps and you generate a report from SilkCentral Test Manager
in PDF format you may find that the header information for the Test
Definition is displayed on every page of the report. In the
screenshots below it can be seen that the Manual Test Definition
has 5 Test Steps and the header information is repeated on page 2
of the Manual Test Definition Result Document report in
PDF format before the fifth Test Step.
This is a setting in the BIRT RCP Report Designer for the
specific report template that is being used. In this case the
report template "Manual Tests" is being used. In order to
change this setting you first need to navigate to Administration -
Reports in SilkCentral Test Manager and download the template you
wish to edit by clicking on the "download" logo as shown
below.
Once you have saved the .rptdesign file to a location on your machine, open the file with BIRT RCP Report Designer. The BIRT RCP Report Designer can be found in the Help - Tools section of SilkCentral Test Manager if you do not already have it installed on your machine. Once you have the .rptdesign file open in BIRT you need to right click on group 1 of the main table - Edit Group - Steps as shown below.
In the Edit Group dialog that opens there is a setting for
"Repeat Header" so uncheck this as shown below.
Once this is complete save the report template .rptdesign file
in BIRT. Then navigate back to Administration - Reports in
SilkCentral Test Manager and update the Manual Tests report by
clicking on the "Update" logo as shown below.
In the dialog box that appears, browse to the new Report
Template .rptdesign file that you saved in BIRT and click
"OK".
Then when you run reports with this Report Template as PDF files
you will see that the Manual Test Definition header information is
no longer repeated on every page.
Note: you can create a new Report Template for
this instead of updating the existing one if you wish by clicking
the "Upload" button on the Administration - Reports
section of SilkCentral Test Manager.
Then in the next dialog box you simply give the report a
relevant name, select which projects and modules to make the report
available for and browse to the Report Template .rptdesign file.
Finally click "OK".
You can then generate your reports using this new Report
Template instead of the existing one.
