Problem:

ClearCase integration with SilkCentral Test Manager 8.x throws an "object not found error". How can I fix this?

Resolution:

If you receive an error message similar to this:

com.jacob.com.ComFailException: Invoke of: GetEntityDef

Source: cqole
Description: An error was detected retrieving information from the ClearQuest database.
There is a reference to an object that does not exist:
Object Type: Entity
Object: Defect

This error was detected at: ClearQuest Core:admetadatamgr.cpp:1193
Recommendation: If you cannot determine how to resolve this issue, contact Rational Support and provide all the above information as well as a description of the context in which the message occurred.

and the error message is followed by a list of Java exceptions,it is almost certain that you do not have a ClearQuest record typenamed "Defect".

If you are running SilkCentral 8.1 or 8.1.1, you will need torename one record type to "Defect". After this the importwill continue correctly.

If you are running SilkCentral2006 (version 8.2) please contactTechnical Support for the patch that fixes that problem and allowsyou to name the ClearQuest fields as you require.
