Problem:

Why do I receive a "java.lang.NoSuchMethodError" when executing tests in the Manual Testing Client?

Resolution:

After upgrading SilkCentral Test Manager and the Manual Testing Client to 2008 R2 SP1 you may receive the following error when you attempt to execute a Manual Test Execution through the Manual Testing Client.

This is a known issue with the Manual Testing Client 2008 R2 SP1 installer in that it is not overwriting some of the old jar files because the "Feature Version" remained unchanged (8.9.0) between versions 2008 R2 and 2008 R2 SP1 of the Manual Testing Client
. This issue has been logged under CR #43074.

In order to resolve this issue you can use the workaround described below:

1. Uninstall the 2008 R2 SP1 Manual Testing Client.
2. Navigate to "Documents and Settings\\Manual Testing Client" directory and delete the "configuration" directory.
3. Reinstall the latest Manual Testing Client from the Help - Tools section of SilkCentral Test Manager.
4. Now when you schedule an execution and run it from the Manual Testing Client you will no longer receive the error and will be able to execute the Manual Test.

Note that when you log into the Manual Testing Client for the first time after the reinstall the configuration directory will be created with the correct version of the jar files.
