How can I copy a project in SCTM 8.1?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

Select Administration/Projects in the menu tree. The Projects page appears, listing all existing projects.

  1. Select Administration/Projects on the menu tree. A list of all projects appears.

  2. Click the Copy Project icon of the project you want to copy.

  3. On the Copy Project dialog, enter a name for the new project in the New project name field.

  4. Select the checkboxes of any additional information types you want to have copied along with the new project. If you don"t select additional information types, an empty project with only group/location assignments will be copied. The following options are available for selection; select all that apply:
    • Settings: Project settings, filters, attributes, custom requirement properties, change notification, and integration configuration settings.
    • Requirements Tree: The requirements tree is copied with all information for each requirement (properties, attachments, etc). *Note When a project has been configured for an external requirements management system, you are asked if you want to transfer the RMS settings to the copy of the project.
    • Requirements History: The historical information for each requirement is copied. This option is only available when Requirements Tree is selected.
    • Test Plan Tree: The test plan tree is copied with all information for each test definition (properties, attachments, attributes, parameters, issues, and steps).
    • Test Plan History: History information for each test plan-tree entry is copied. This option is only available when Test Plan Tree is selected.
    • Execution Tree: The execution tree is copied, including all information for each execution definition (assigned test definitions, deployment, dependencies, etc). Information related to assigned execution definitions is also included.
    • Execution Status of Test Definitions: The execution status of each test definition is copied. This option is only available when Execution Tree is selected.

*Note: When both Requirements Tree and Test Plan Tree are selected, in addition to the information listed above, the information related to the relationship between requirements and test definitions (assigned requirements and assigned test definitions) is also copied.

When Requirements Tree, Execution Tree, and Execution Status of Test Definitions are selected, all trees are copied in their entirety. The relationship between the trees is also established.

  5. Click OK.

  6. The Copy Project - Issue Manager dialog appears, enabling you to specify how project issues are to be managed. Select the Copy Issues checkbox to copy all of the source project"s existing issues to the new project. Select Copy Archived Issues to copy all of the source project"s archived issues to the new project. Source project configurations are automatically copied to the new project. These include:
    • Products
    • GUI configuration
    • Notification rules and system wide triggers
    • Routing rules
    • Workflow
    • User views on inboxes
    • Workgroups
    • Inboxes
    • User account configurations

*Note If you do not select either checkbox, issue data will not be copied to the new project.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Click Yes on the Copy project dialog, confirming that you wish to begin the copy process and that you know the process may take several minutes.

  9. When the copy process is complete, a dialog informs you what has been copied and asks you if you want to activate the project, thereby making the project available in Test Manager"s project view. Click Yes.

*Note You must have Project Manager or Administrator rights to copy projects.
