What are Execution Servers used for and how are they installed with SilkCentral Test Manager?

Execution Servers are installed on all machines that you want to use to execute test definitions from SilkCentral TestManager. An Execution Server is required to allow SilkTest to execute the test definitions from SilkCentral TestManager. See What are "test definitions" and why are they required in SilkCentral TestManager? for more information on SilkCenral TestManager test definitions.

You will notice that during the installation process of SilkCentral TestManager you will be prompted to install one of the following:

- SilkCentral Test Manager Standard Installation
- SilkCentral Test Manager Custom Installation
- SilkCentral Test Manager Execution Server

Choose the "Execution Server" installation at this point.
