Why can I not retest failed executions that have had their issues fixed?

Problem:

Why can I not retest failed executions that have had their issues fixed?

Resolution:

An execution has failed and an issue logged in an external issue tracking system which has statuses mapped to the "Fixed" status in SilkCentral Test Manager. If you then try and retest the execution by selecting the "Test definitions that have had issues fixed since their last execution" option:

run

You may get the following message displayed:

message

This may be caused by the fact that the statuses of the issues in SilkCentral Test Manager have not been updated with the statuses of the issues in the external issue tracking system. In the Issues tab for the relevant Test Definition there is a "Update States of External Issues" button. In the screenshot below it shows an issue with a status of "Unreviewed" as it has not been updated:

update states

Once the button has been clicked however the status changes to "Closed" as shown in the screenshot below:

update states 2

As this is one of the external statuses mapped to the "Fixed" status in SilkCentral Test Manager, when it is attempted to run again by selecting the "Test definitions that have had issues fixed since their last execution" option the message will not be received again.
