Problem:

SilkCentral Test Manager and Telelogic DOORS

Resolution:

SilkCentral Test Manager can integrate with Telelogic DOORS, which is a requirements management tool.

To do this:

• Go to Settings | Integration Configuration
• Click on Configure button for Telelogic DOORS integration

This opens the integration dialog:

• The RM Service URL should already be there if all defaults have been used.
• Enter the username and password for Telelogic DOORS
• Click “Test Connection”

If the connection is fine it should appear as follows:

• Click the “Browse” button beside the Project Field
• Select the DOORS project to integrate with

• Select the Requirement types to use

• Click “OK”

The configuration dialog will now contain the information of the Telelogic DOORS connection, the project to use and the requirement types that are to be used also:

N.B: In order to be able to enable creation of unassigned requirements or to be able to upload requirements created in SilkCentral Test Manager to Telelogic DOORS you need to check these in the configuration window.

Below is an example of how the integration may look in the “Integration configuration” tab when setup:

Synchronizing with Telelogic DOORS

Once the integration configuration is complete it is now time to synchronize the requirements with SilkCentral Test Manager.

• Go to the “Requirements” tab
• Click on the container in the requirements tree
• Go to the properties tab
• Click “Synchronize Requirements”

• Click “Yes” for the next dialog

• Once complete a status dialog will appear stating the sync is finished

The Requirements tree will now be updated with the new requirements imported from Telelogic DOORS

Creating requirements in SilkCentral Test Manager

When you create requirements in SilkCentral Test Manager – you can associate them with a requirement type in DOORS also – to do this:

• Create a new requirement
• Go to the “Properties” tab of that requirement
• Click on “Map Requirement”

• Choose the requirement type from DOORS to associate this requirement with:

• Click “OK”
• View the “Properties” tab again – it will now show
  • The requirement status
  • The DOORS requirement type
  • The DOORS requirement ID
  • The version (if applicable)

Synchronizing new requirements

Once you have created new requirements in SilkCentral Test Manager you will want to synchronize with Telelogic DOORS so that the SilkCentral Test Manager requirements are updated to DOORS also.

• Click on the top node in the requirements tree
• Go to the “Properties” tab
• Click on “Synchronize Requirements”
• Click “Yes” to confirm synchronization

Once the Sync is complete a status dialog will show the changes:

The SilkCentral Test Manager created requirements will now appear in DOORS also

To create requirements in DOORS and have them uploaded to SilkCentral Test Manager:

• Create the requirements in DOORS

• Go to SilkCentral Test Manager
• Click on the top node in the requirements tree
• Go to the “Properties” tab
• Click on “Synchronize Requirements”
• Click “Yes” to confirm synchronization
• Once the Sync is complete a status dialog will show the changes:

The DOORS created requirements will now appear in SilkCentral Test Manager also:
