Problem:

How can a StarTeam Client, that is not the default client, be configured to open StarTeam shortcuts / URLs?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2006 R2
  • Product Component: Client / URL?s
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows

If multiple versions of the StarTeam Client are installed and there is a requirement to use a StarTeam Client which is not the default client, to open StarTeam URL links. Then the following steps will allow this

Open the Windows Registry Editor, and navigate to the following key;

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\starteam\shell\open\command

The default String value should be something similar to;

"C:\programfiles\borland\\StarTeam SDK 9.3\Bin\StJavaw.exe" -f?"C:\Program Files\Borland\StarTeam Cross-Platform Client 2006R2\StarTeamCP.stjava"? -- -openurl "%1" ?shared

This is the default value for St 2006 R2. To change the location of the StarTeamCP.stjava to make StarTeam 2005 R2 the default client for opening URLs, change the Registry String entry to

C:\Program Files\Borland\StarTeamCross-Platform Client 2005 R2\StarTeamCP.stjava?

Modifying the registry can cause serious damage to both StarTeam and the rest of your Windows system. Incorrect registry modification can cause irreversible damage to your system. Please ensure you have taken appropriate backups before attempting anychanges of this nature. DO NOT attempt if unsure.
