Problem:

When trying to start StarTeam CPC, following error occurs: “File Not Found: \*-*-*.Log (Access is denied)” error.

After installing StarTeam (ST) Cross Platform Client (CPC) on a machine, we received the error “File Not Found: \StarTeam *-*-*.Log (Access is denied)” error.

Resolution:

This error is usually due to the incorrect installation. During installation the StarTeam Client Log path is not set correctly.

To resolve, follow these steps:

1.     Go to ST CPC
2.     Go to Tools | Personal Options | Workspace
3.     Look for StarTeam client log
4.      Set the path to “log output path:” to a location that is accessible and writeable by the user.

This error has been seen in Windows 7 and sometime in Windows XP with ST CPC 11.x
