Problem:

How do I enable support for StarTeam URLs in Linux?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTam
  • Product Version: ALL
  • Product Component: CPC
  • Platform/OS Version: Linux

By default in Red Hat Linux starteam:// URLs are not highlighted and clickable inside applications and therefore do not link to the StarTeam artifact.

It is possible to enable highlighting of these links in applications which use the Gnome desktop environment, such as the Evolution email client. In order to do enable this feature you will need to execute the following three shell commands:

gconftool-2 --set --type=string /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/starteam/command "/opt/StarTeamCP_2008/bin/StarTeamCP -openurl "%s""

gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/starteam/enabled true

gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/starteam/need-terminal false

Please replace the text "/opt/StarTeamCP_2008/bin/StarTeamCP" with the correct path to your client installation. StarTeam links should now be active within Gnome based applications.
