  • Product Version: 2005 R2/2006 (Applies to 6.0 and 2005 as well but terminology in this KB refers to the latest versions)
  • Product Component: Server Administration
  • Platform/OS Version: All Supported OS

Question:

When I try to shutdown the server why do I receive an error "Fail to stop selected configuration."?

Answer:

This error means that there isn"t a running StarTeam process to stop and what happened is that your starteam-server-configs.xml file is out of sync with the actual system state. Go to the StarTeam Server installation directory and open starteam-server-configs.xml in any text editor. Then change this line for each malfunctioning configuration:

to

This IS case sensitive.

Make the change, save your server XML and the Server Administration GUI should automatically update. If not, close and open it and it will display correctly. If you continue to have trouble, please contact Borland Support.
