Product Support Matrix - StarTeam 2005 Release 2

Resolution:

The system requirements for StarTeam 2005 R2 can be found in the ?System Requirements? section of StarTeam Installation Guide. This document is installed with the product, is present on the product CD, and is also available for download from http://info.borland.com/techpubs/starteam/2005R2/en/install.pdf.

In addition to the supported platforms identified in the Installation Guide, the following changes apply:

Windows Server 2003 and 2003 R2

In addition to other Windows operating system support noted in standard data sheets, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 are supported platforms for StarTeam 2005 Server and StarTeam 2005 R2 Server. These include:

  • Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
  • Windows Server 2003 DataCenter Edition
  • Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition- for departmental/limited workloads
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 DataCenter Edition
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition - for departmental/limited workloads

Note: Customers seeking the highest availability and scalability should consider Windows Server 2003 (R2) Enterprise Edition or Windows Server 2003 (R2) Datacenter Edition. Windows Server 2003 (R2) Standard Edition is only recommended for groups of up to 50 StarTeam users, and if scalability and/or memory issues are encountered Borland and Microsoft recommend using enterprise class operating systems.

Windows XP Service Pack 2

This platform is supported for all applications that are listed in the Installation Guide as supporting Windows XP Service Pack 1.

VMware ESX Server

Borland now supports running the StarTeam 2005 R2 server on VMware ESX Server, included in VMware Infrastructure 3.

Borland certifies StarTeam 2005 R2 server on certain operating systems (including Windows Server 2000, Windows Server 2003, Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, etc.), not on specific hardware configurations. Therefore, as long as a customer configures VMware virtual machines with supported operating systems, Borland will treat them as though they are independent (non-virtual) systems and provide full support.

Borland?s support team will attempt to resolve issues using our own environments with the same operating system. We will treat VMware virtual machines in a similar manner to any other non-virtual hardware system. That is, we will likely configure independent systems with a supported operating system for application servers and attempt to replicate a customer"s problem. In the event that we cannot replicate an issue on separate systems using the same OS, we will look to VMware and/or the OS vendor to address the problem and will work with them to find a resolution. In addition, the customer may be asked to reproduce the problem running natively on the certified OS, without the use of VMware.

A more detailed Support statement can be found here.

Please refer to VMware documentation for hardware configurations appropriate for an application like the StarTeam Server.

Oracle Database

In addition to the versions listed in the Installation Guide, Oracle Database Server 9.2.0.6 is supported when used together with ODBC driver 9.2.0.4.3.

DB2 Database

Note that StarTeam 2005 Release 2 will be the last server release that supports DB2.

SCC Integration

Build 7.0.011 of the SCC Integration introduces support for:

  • Borland SilkTest 2006 and SilkPerformer 2006
  • Powerbuilder 10 and 10.5, in addition to the previous support for Powerbuilder 8 and 9.
