To set up the Borland License Server as a service,

  • On the Windows platform:

    Activate the Set Up the Borland License Server License Server As Windows Service option on the Borland License Server installation wizard.

  • On the Unix platform:

    Run the installation wizard or console installer (archive) as root. In addition to this, be sure to add a user named belise before installing.

To manually install and start the Borland License Server as a service, use the following command:

  • Windows platform:

    belise installService
    e.g. C:\Borland\BLS4\bin>belise installService

  • Unix/Linux platform:

    When starting the Borland License Server on Solaris, be sure to set your active shell to bash, tcsh, csh, or ksh. To do this, at the command line run either bash, tcsh, csh, or ksh.
    go to /etc/init.d and type >belise start

To manually uninstall the service, use the following command:

  • Windows platform:

    belise uninstallService e.g.

    C:\Borland\BLS4\bin>belise uninstallService
  • Unix/Linux platform:

    go to /etc/init.d
    type >belise stop
