Problem:

When using Import Export Manager (IEM) what causes the error, "com.starbase.starteam.cdl.CDLException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: "?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2005 R2
  • Product Component: Import/Export Manager
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows

This error indicates that the version of Java specified in the stexport.lax file is not compatible with the version of Import/Export Manager. The full error is

com.starbase.starteam.cdl.CDLException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: file:\*path name*\cdl.xml (The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)"

Edit the stexport.lax file with a text editor and look at the section named LAX.NL.CURRENT.VM. The lax file is usually located at

C:\Program Files\Borland\StarTeam Import Export Manager

Once you identify the current Sun Java version please browse to:

C:\Program Files\Borland\Java

Here you will notice some folders with other versions of Sun Java. Please try specifying one of these versions, save the lax file and run the export utility again. If you get the same error try the next Sun version shown within the Java folder.

If neither of these versions resolve the error please contact Borland Technical Support.
