How do I set up TrackRecord WebServer on a Windows 2000 machine?

Resolution:

To set up TrackRecord WebServer from scratch on a Windows 2000 Professional or Server machine, please utilize the following steps:
  1. You first need to create a Virtual Directory within the Microsoft Computer Management Console/Services and Application/Internet Information Services....
    • From the Desktop; right-click on the My Computer icon and select "Manage" from the index menu.
    • This will open the "Computer Management" window or "console".
    • On the left side column you will have the directory tree. Locate the "Services and Applications" directory; click the " " to expand.
    • Move down the expanded tree to "Internet Information Services"; click the " ".
    • Locate the "Default Web Site" directory and right-click on it. From the index menu select "New --> Virtual Directory".
    • This will launch the "Virtual Directory Creation Wizard". First name the Virtual Directory: "cgi-win". Set the path as "c:\inetpub\cgi-win".
    • For Access Permissions select: Read, Run Scripts, and Execute.
    • Complete the wizard and your directory will appear under the Default Web Site items.
  2. In the Management console, right-click on the "cgi-win" directory and select Properties from the index menu.
  3. In the middle of the Properties window make sure the path is: "c:\inetpub\cgi-win".
  4. The ONLY boxes checked underneath the local path box should be: "Log visits" and "Index this resource". Make sure Read, Write, and Directory Browsing are NOT checked.
  5. Under the Applications Settings section make sure the Application Name is "cgi-win". Execute Permissions should be "Scripts and Executables" and Application Protection should be "Low (IIS Process)". Click OK to close the window.
  6. Next go to Start -- Run and type "dcomcnfg". Enter.
  7. The Distributed Com Configuration Properties should be up.
  8. Locate "TRWebDB.TRWebDBHost", highlight it, and click Properties.
  9. Go to the "Identity" tab on the properties and select: "The interactive user". Click Apply and then OK.
  10. Locate "TRWebSessionsHost.UserInfo", highlight it, and click Properties.
  11. Go to the "Identity" tab on the properties and select: "The interactive user". Click Apply and then OK. OK out of the DCOM Properties.
  12. Click Start -- Settings -- Control Panel -- Administrative Tools -- Services.
  13. Within the services window locate: "World Wide Web Publishing" service.
  14. Double-click it to open it's Properties window. Click the "Log On" tab and ensure that the "Log on as:" section has "Local System account" selected and "Allow service to interact with desktop" is checked.
  15. If changes were made click Apply and then OK.
  16. Reboot the machine.
  17. After reboot, open your web browser and enter your TrackRecord WebServer URL (i.e.: http://www.(server name)/TrackRecord/Welcome.html).
  18. You should receive your TrackRecord log-in screen.
