Problem:

How do I search for files with a particular revision comment?

Resolution:


  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: ALL
  • Product Component: CPC
  • Platform/OS Version: N/A


The comment field can be searched using the find function, however , it must be added to the client using the "Show fields" option. This can be carried out as follows:

  1. Right click on any column header in the right pane and left click Show Fields

  • Add the "Comment" Field so it appears as a column in the right pane

  • Click OK, the column now appears in the right pane.
  • Click FILE | FIND
  • Click the Radio Box This Field
  • Select "Comment" from the dropdown list.
  • Click FIND

  • The first file matching your search criterion will now be selected in the right pane.

  • In order to find further matches, Click FILE | FIND NEXT or press F3 on your keyboard. To search backwards, click FILE | FIND PREVIOUS or Press SHIFT F3 on your keyboard.


If you do not wish to highlight matching results amongst other files but rather to view only matching results, this can be achieved by using a query.

  1. Perform steps 1-3 as above to add the comment field as a column to the right pane.
  2. Right click any column header and select Queries.
  3. Click New

  4. Enter a name for the query,
  5. Under Condition Node select Comment and Operator Equals (or Contains if you do not require an exact match)
  6. Enter your search criterion as a Value

  7. Click ADD and then Click SAVE
  8. Click SELECT, only files matching your search Criterion are displayed
  9. To cancel the query, Right click any column header and click QUERIES.
  10. Then click CLEAR QUERY
