Problem:

The session configuration file does not match the database (GUIDs are different)

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2005 R2/2006/2008
  • Product Component: Server
  • Platform/OS Version: All supported OS

Description:
The session configuration file does not match the database (GUIDs are different)

When starting the configuration using ServerAdministration tool, I am getting error "The session configuration file does not match the database (GUIDs are different)"

Answer/Solution:

Run the following query:

SELECT ServerID FROM syn_ServerSettings

It should match the following in the starteam-server-configs.xml file

If they match consider the following:

1. Are you sure there is no extra "space" after the GUIDS in both the S0 table and the xml file?
2. In the XML file, are you looking at the "SERVER GUID" field and not the "DBPassword" which usually looks the same...?
3. S0 table owned by the same schema user?
4. Did you select the correct DB for the DSN? Just to make sure you are looking at the correct database, did you try using SQLPLUS on the ST server machine, and connect as schema/password@SID and do a SELECT ServerID FROM syn_ServerSettings to view the GUID so to make sure you are using correct SID and schema?
