When attempting to create a new project the following error occurs: "There is already a project by that name in the database". This occurs even though there are currently no projects with the name being used to create the project.
This can occur if a project with the same name was previously deleted but no purge has been performed on the database. To confirm if this is the case, restart the StarTeam Server and check if the error still occurs. If the error continues to occur then the issue is caused by a previous project with the same name being deleted and a purge is now required.
This can also occur if a project with the same name was renamed but the StarTeam Server has not been restarted. You can perform a purge using the StarTeam Administration Console. Please consult the StarTeam Administration Guide for details on purging.
