Question:

How can I ensure that StarTeam will open my from my URL when I choose the option ‘copy URL to clipboard’?

Answer:

By default StarTeam will open when you run the URL (i.e. by pasting it into the Windows ‘Run’ dialog box) however there are occasions when the association between the URL and the StarTeam client may become corrupt which means the URL will not open the client. In order to check if the association is corrupt you need to check the following:

1. Open the Windows Registry.
2. Look for the following "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\starteam\shell\open\command".
3. If it exist check it has the following "C:\Program Files\Borland\StarTeam SDK 9.3\bin\StJavaw.exe" -f "C:\Program Files\Borland\StarTeam Cross-Platform Client 2006\StarTeamCP.stjava" -- -openurl "%1"

Please note that you may have a different reference to the SDK and Client version depending on the version of StarTeam you are using however all other parameters should be the same. If you have installed StarTeam on a different drive other than C:\ then adjust this also. Making changes to the registry should only be performed by users with experience and a registry back-up should be performed beforehand.
