Problem:

Is it possible to view all the shared folders and the their branching behavior at once?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2006, 2006 R2, 2008, 2008 R2
  • Product Component: StarTeam CPC Fields
  • Platform/OS Version: Microsoft Windows

In order to view all the shared folders and their branching behavior from a single screen, you have to include the ‘Share State’ and ‘Branch State’ fields to the display.

  1. Select the root folder
  2. Select ALL DESCENDANTS
  3. Right-click on the fields tab (NAME, STATUS..)

  4. Choose SHOW Fields
  5. Check SHOW ADVANCED FIELDS checkbox
  6. Add SHARE STATE and BRANCH STATE

    Output:

Under SHARE STATE, it will display whether it is ROOT SHARE or DERIVED SHARE. Under BRANCH STATE, it will display if it is the ROOT, BRANCHED, or NOT BRANCHED.

This information can also be exported to .csv file for additional reporting. To do this:

  1. Click FILE | ADVANCED | EXPORT

  2. Under “EXPORT FOR”, click ALL ITEMS
  3. Under “OUTPUT FILE NAME”, change .txt to .csv
  4. Go to the directory where you saved the file to view the file.

You can also apply the steps above if you want to see other fields on the screen.
