Resolution:

  • Product Name: Star Team
  • Product Version: 2005 R2
  • Platform/OS Version: ALL

Question:

How do I check the size of my StarTeam database (currently used) if I am using MSDE?

Answer:

If you have a full version of SQL Server you can use the SQL Server Management utility. If you do not have a full installation of SQL server you can download and install the MSDE Manager (free 7 day trial version) from

http://www.valesoftware.com/downloading-msde-manager.php

  • Open the MSDE Manager
  • Under Application Root (left hand side pane) expand SQL Server Group
  • Expand the "Databases" content and click on the desired database
  • Open "TSQL Window" (top left corner)
  • Under "untitled1" pane paste the following command: execute sp_spaceused
  • Click on Execute (Exclamation mark sign on the toolbar) (or F5)

Note: If you have other ways of running execute sp_spaceused you may not need to install MSDE MNGR.
sp_spaceused (Transact-SQL) displays the number of rows, disk space reserved, and disk space used by a table, indexed view, or SQL Server 2005 Service Broker queue in the current database, or displays the disk space reserved and used by the whole database.
