  • Product Version: 2006
  • Product Component: Layout Designer
  • Platform/OS Version: All

Question:

When using the Layout Designer, why am I unable to use an enumerated custom property with a checkbox?

Answer:

This is a known defect that a checkbox will not accept values when used with enumerated custom property.

One possible workaround is to use a combo box instead of a checkbox. I have outlined an example below.

Firstly you will already have a custom field added to, lets say, the requirement section within the CPC. This enumerated field will contain possible values "Yes" and "No", take note of the custom field name.

  • Open Layout Designer
  • Select the Requirement.Layout.xml file
  • Select a combo box control and place it on your form.
  • For Property name, use the drop down list and select your custom field name (Remember to add a label to identify the combo box)
  • Save your new Requirement.Layout.xml file
  • Close down and reopen your StarTeam client.
  • Open your project and add a new requirement, with "Am I Responsible" set to yes.
  • The new requirement will now save.
