Question:

What is a Read-Only Reference View?

Answer:

What are the benefits of using Read-Only Reference views?

  • Easy to setup
  • Automatically configures read-only Access Rights. The Check-in operation is always grey"ed out.
  • Creates a seperate Access Rights object for the new View which allows you the luxury of setting up and configuring Access Rights on a redundant view instead of your production view. This prevents any potential mistakenly applied Access Rights and a production outage!
  • Due to the nature of the View, changes made in the parent View are automatically reflected in the Read-Only Reference View.
  • Can point the Read-Only Reference View to a specific folder within the project so that it doesn"t show everything.
  • You can delete it when its not necessary anymore. This means you don"t have to bother resetting anything on the parent view.

Please remember to use Read-Only Reference Views before trying to configure Access Rights. Also, be sure to refer to the Administrator"s Guide (attached), Chapter 9, Using Views for further assistance.
