Problem:

When attempting to create a new view in StarTeam the following error results:

Resolution:

This issue is caused by an attempt to create a view with the requirements component without an Enterprise Advantage license.

If an Enterprise Advantage license is available but has been removed:

  1. Launch the StarTeam Server administration console
  2. Shut down the configuration
  3. Click Help | About
  4. Click License
  5. Click Register
  6. Enter the license Serial Number and access key
  7. Click OK
  8. Start the configuration
If licenses have been downgraded from Enterprise Advantage to Enterprise

Contact Micro Focus Supportline and request an Enterprise Advantage evaluation extender (quote this article). When the license has been received,
  1. Launch the StarTeam Server administration console
  2. Shut down the configuration
  3. Click Help | About
  4. Click License
  5. Select existing licenses
  6. Click Delete
  7. Click Extend evaluation
  8. Paste the key provided, ensuring not to append any spaces or additional characters
  9. Click OK
  10. Start the configuration
  11. Log into StarTeam
  12. Open the affected project
  13. Click Project | Properties
  14. In the default types tab uncheck "Requirements"
  15. Click OK
  16. Return to the administration console and shut down the configuration
  17. Click Help | About
  18. Click License
  19. Select and delete the evaluation
  20. Click Register
  21. Enter the serial number and access key for the Enterprise licenses
  22. Start the server
Views will now be created without error.
