Problem:

Why am I getting error, "Could not find server XXXX" in sys.servers..."

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2008
  • Product Component: Server
  • Platform/OS Version: All Supported OS

Description:
The computer running the SQL Server was changed. Customer tried adding users to a group within the Server Administrator and received the following error, "Could not find server XXXX" in sys.servers.

Answer/Solution:

Verify that thecorrect server name was specified in your Server Administration (server=> configuration properties=> Server GUID and Configuration Name).

This issue is usually caused by a corrupted installation of SQL and can sometimes occur when the name of the computer running the SQL Server is changed.Create a backup of your database, then uninstall the instance of SQL running your Database. Reinstall SQL. Create a database with the same name as the previous one. Restore the backup.

NOTE: Research is still ongoing within Borland on how to resolve this issue, so please log a support case if you receive this error message.
